This used to be the old farmhouse of a large vineyard in the Bolgheri DOC area, one of the top red Italian wine. The building itself was very simple and without a particular character, apart from its peaceful position by a small lake...and the deep red shutters! (which we recreated of course). The ground floor was converted in a large, bright open plan living-dining-kitchen and the new sleek steel&wood staircase leads up to the three bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms. The windows are in corten steel frame, the floor are in resin and some of the brick/stone have been left exposed inside, whereas outside it's been fully rendered as it was originally. A bespoke wine showcase (in corten like the windows) welcomes you in the entrance hallway, just to remind you that this is indeed wine country.
